Celebration Series: The Music of Patty Griffin
Celebration Series: The Music of Patty Griffin
The Celebration Series celebrates singer/songwriters in our midst! Each month we honor a particular singer/songwriter or two by inviting a handful of local performers to play the honoree’s songs onstage. This series, a fundraiser for The Warming House, happens with different honorees and different musicians every month. This month we celebrate Patty Griffin on her birthday! Performers include Lynn O'Brien, Brianna Lane, Julia Christiann, Oake & Paine, Dan Rumsey, and John Louis. Doors at 7:30, music at 8:00. Suggested donation is $5 - $20, and all proceeds go to support The Warming House, a tax-exempt music listening room.

Julia Christiann
Julia Christiann
Minneapolis native Julia Christiann is a singer-songwriter with roots in classic country and Americana folk, with a splash of blues for good measure. Julia was born and raised in Northeast, and after spending a couple of years in Kansas City, she returned to Minneapolis to pursue a music therapy degree at the University of Minnesota. Fast forward a couple of years, and she is now a board-certified music therapist by day, where she works with hospice patients in end-of-life care. Julia’s soulful voice haunts and inspires her audience, taking them on a journey through her own experiences of grief and loss. These are central themes in her upcoming studio work, where she poignantly puts words to personal sorrow while demonstrating the buoyancy of the human spirit.
Oake & Paine
Oake & Paine
Oake & Paine are an acoustic guitar & vocal duo. Colleen Martin Oake and Lindsay Paine have been making music together for more than 20 years. They perform with various bands in The Twin Cities including their band, The Wreck. Among other projects, Colleen sings back-up with Lolo's Ghost and Lindsay plays guitar with Dizzy Hat. Their music ranges from original material to covers by artists both recognizable and obscure.
Brianna Lane

For fans of Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, and Ryan Adams.

“Poised, ambitious, a soul-singer of the first order, and an accomplished guitarist.”
— Jim Walsh (Star Tribune Minneapolis, MN)
Dan Rumsey
Dan Rumsey
i started out as a ukelele player at 3 yrs. old. i played the alto saxophone in grade school. Brother Tim started me out on guitar at 15. We had a piano around the house and i would mess around with it. Had a band in High School with Steve & Pat Gleason, Joe Crowely, and Andy Salmen. i have a lifelong appreciation and respect for pianos as i have fought them all my life and even rebuilt, repaired, and tuned them. Brother Mark hooked me on harmonica when i was in college for two years at UMMorris. Have been in a few bands over the years: Mad Sparrows, Bound Band, The Resonators, and Aunt Mae's Kitchen. i enjoy the energy of a band and also the subtle space of solo, duo, and trio combinations. i didn't find my singing voice until around 1997. i collected and adapted many songs before they started coming through me. i have been blessed with much time, in the past for music. Not as much currently, but i am hopeful that the time will come around again and i will be waiting for it. In the mean time, i am enjoying playing solo and with Dan Rumsey & The Kombuchas, Sally Heinz & Bob Radspinner, The Rumsey Brothers (Tim & Dan), and The Rhythm Pups. TAKE IT EASY and keep the good vibes flowing. Music is bigger than any one of us. Do it for the cause of Mother Earth and the Human Beings. 2 CD's out on Dreamhorse Records: "How You Gonna Slow It Down" and " I Wish". My 3rd CD, "Rainbow Trail", is in production as of mid Oct. 2016.

Most recently, I placed 1st in the River Falls Upper Midwest Songwriter Contest: April, 2016 and 3rd in 2015. I continue to perform around the Twin Cities area, singing & playing guitar, piano, and harmonica in a soulful and bluesy style. Have been known to hang out at Plum's with Nick Hensley's posse for the Minnesota Songwriter Showcase.
