Songwriters Lily Vakili and Pablo Jones share an evening of original music ranging from hard-rocking indie blues to folk-inspired- confessionals and heart-breaking ballads. The two former MPLS theater alumni have known each other for over 35+ years. This marks their first musical performance together. Writing songs about vintage guitars, the occasional lothario and going wide open, Lily performs in the New Jersey/New York area solo, as a duo and with the fabulous LV Band. Lily’s first album, Lake City/Next 3 Exits, was produced by Hightstown, NJ musician and producer Bruce Hanson of indie band Fellaheen.  A chance encounter with Hoboken guitarist and producer James Mastro (Ian Hunter the Rant Band; producer credits include Karyn Kuhl and Jill Sobule) led to the making of Meadowlands, a ode to “every soul wandering the highways, back alleys and watery meadows of the great State of New Jersey”. Following a year of playing out with the LVBand in support of Meadowlands’ release, Lily returns to MPLS, performing old songs and new.

Pablo Jones
Pablo is a Minneapolis based singer-songwriter who has performed throughout the U.S. and released two full-length CDs: Vulgar Modalities (1998 Spiderbone Records) and Bitches and Machines (2001 Sursumcorda). His latest recording, Absolute Prophetic Weakness (2008 Spiderbone Records), was written and recorded over a seven day period and released exclusively online. Pablo has been described as a folk artist with a post-punk sensibility, a poet whose influences range from Lenny Bruce to Walt Whitman, an unnervingly honest crafter of obscene and eloquent anti-tunes. In 1999 he was voted "Best Acoustic Performer" by City Pages. Most recently, Pablo has performed with The Scrimshaw Brothers and has written music for several theatrical works by Jon Ferguson, as well as the modern dance group HIJACK.
